Following a report by PUNCH Metro, the Eko Electricity Distribution Company has replaced the broken pole located at Aina Street, Aguda, in the Surulere area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro had reported that residents in the area raised the alarm over the condition of the electric pole which was connected to a transformer supplying power to more than five streets.
During a visit to the area, our correspondent observed that one of the electric poles in the area had snapped and was held by an iron cable fastened to the ground in front of the entrance to a mosque in one of the streets.
Following a report on the observation, residents, while expressing a sigh of relief, said the EKEDC had replaced the pole and reconnected the drooping wires.
A community leader, Babatunde Okanlawon, confirmed to our correspondent that the broken pole had been changed and the wires connected properly.
He said “The EKEDC has changed the broken pole; they have also connected the drooping wires properly to the poles in the street. We appreciate PUNCH Newspapers for their support.”
A resident, Alhaji Ogunbimpe, told our correspondent that though the power firm brought the pole a month ago, its officials fixed and connected it to power about two weeks ago.
